City of Pittsburgh’s MoveForward PGH Bike Connectivity Campaign (2019-2022)

Project Description:

MoveForwardPGH was a two-year initiative of the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure to rapidly implement the city’s 2020 Bike(+) Plan, ultimately installing 25 miles of All Ages and Abilities bike infrastructure filling critical gaps in the existing bike network. Countermeasures introduced in the campaign including the city’s first roundabouts and neighborways as means to create safe, accessible and comfortable commutes for Pittsburgh residents.

Work on Project:

  • Held 30+ virtual and in-public meetings and pop up events, drafted surveys for communities, and updated all Council staff on upcoming projects in the area.

  • Directed a team of planners, engineers, communication specialists, and bike advocates in outreach, planning, design for 40+ projects included in campaign.

  • Successfully installed 25 miles of bike facilities.

  • Provided equity profiles, data analysis and cost estimates for each project and to communicate level of outreach to communities.
