City of Pittsburgh’s Bike (+) Master Plan (2020)

Department of Mobility & Infrastructure

Role: Principal Planner of Active Transportation

Project Description:

The City of Pittsburgh’s Bike (+) Master Plan envisions a safe and connected network of on-street and off-street facilities for people of all ages and abilities to access daily needs by bicycle and other small mobility modes. It aims to increase safety, expand affordable travel choices, and provide alternatives to short-distance vehicle travel to reduce traffic congestion and emissions. Additionally, the plan supports the city's goal of reducing transportation-related emissions by 50% by 2030 while expanding access to jobs and destinations.

Work on Project:

  • Reviewed and approved final draft of Plan, working with Toole Design Group and VHB engineering consultants.

  • Incorporated goals set by Plan into all Move Forward PGH projects.

  • Promoted Plan in all stakeholder outreach efforts in tandem with the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan.
